It's a classic...

...for a reason!

I'm a total child of the '80s, so those songs and dances I remember...hoh boy, do I remember them! I think I've danced to almost all of those songs. "Shook Me All Night Long", "Thriller", "Walk Like an Egyptian", "Can't Touch This", "Love Shack"...those are the songs of my misspent high school life.

My dad was a big Motown fan, and I grew up listening to The Four Tops, Chubby Checker and the like.

The songs "Cotton Eyed Joe" and "I Get Knocked Down" send me back to UConn, Sigma Alpha and the Hen House.

Music is a big part of my life - it's an inspiration, a mood-definer. It's a constant background, and something that sometimes causes me to remember where I came from, what I'm doing now, and where I want to go in the future. While I don't have a musical bone in my body - I can't hold a tune to save my life, and I don't have the motivation needed to play any instrument - I live vicariously through the music of other people.

What's the first one you remember? And what's your favorite? And why? How does music influence your life?
