Let's do some Holly Day Hopping!

Good morning everyone!  And it's time to do some more hopping :)  I had so much fun on the other hops that I've done, that when it was announced that the EtsyMom Team was going to be doing one as well, I jumped at the chance!  This hop, which starts today, Sunday, 12/5, and runs to Saturday, 12/11, is all about the Holidays and features nummy recipes, great holiday tutorials, and other fun stuff.

Here's the giveaway basket!  Look at all that cool loot!

To start, please go to the EtsyMom blog, and start at the top of the participant list and work your way down.  In order to win the luscious basket above, here's what you need to do:  1.) For every blog you visit, leave a comment.  Don't forget to leave a comment on my blog!  ;)  2.)  You can also become a follower of my blog;
3.)  leave a comment on the EtsyMom Holly Day blog post; 4.)  Subscribe to the EtsyMom email list-
the link can be found on the EtsyMom blog, top, right hand side; 5.) Go back to the EtsyMom blog, and comment once for each of those 4 things you've done.  The drawing for the basket will take place next Saturday, December 11th!  Here is the list of all the great EtsyMom bloggers participating :)   Please do make sure to check them out.  - you are here!

And now, here's my contribution to the holiday making!  I'll admit that originally I was going to try to work up a tutorial - but this week was just way busier than imagination, so I'm going to go the easy way and offer up a recipe.

Everyone loves homemade chocolate chip cookies, right?  Of course!  And chocolate chip cookies are my dad's favorite, and whenever I make them, I always think of my dad.  He's a wonderful man, the best dad a girl could have.  So, it's to him I dedicate this recipe, with much love....knowing it'll be my contribution to our Holiday Cookie Swap too ;)

 Hazelnut Chocolate Chip cookies
The recipe is a Giada DeLaurentis recipe and is simply droolish.  I think that the addition of the oats gives the cookies a great texture and feel.

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup (packed) light brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces English toffee candy (recommended: Heath or Skor bar), finely chopped
  • 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted, husked, and chopped
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Line 2 heavy large baking sheets with parchment paper. Finely chop the oats in a food processor. Transfer the oats to a medium bowl. Mix in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars in a large bowl until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Add the flour mixture and stir just until blended. Stir in the toffee, hazelnuts, and chocolate chips.

For each cookie, drop 1 rounded tablespoonful of dough onto sheet, spacing 1-inch apart (do not flatten dough). Bake until the cookies are golden (cookies will flatten slightly), about 15 minutes. Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool completely. (The cookies can be prepared 1 day ahead. Store airtight at room temperature.)

I hope you enjoy your cookies and this fun blog hop!  I'll admit that I've been a slacker and was unable to get this post up as early as I had planned, but I am glad that I was able to get it up :)  Have fun hopping, ya'll!  Oh, and you can get to the next blog by hopping on over to Quirefly's blog

(And don't forget to leave a comment below, and go to the EtsyMom blog for the rest of the's a whole grand crew!  Enjoy :)
