It's all about the muffin mix, dudette!

(Okay, so please excuse me.  I'm a little punchy after dealing with some family issues, and this might be a bit of a corny post...please, don't leave...I promise good eye candy is coming up!)

Anyway, by now I'm sure most of you are aware that I've been working on something for the Art Bead Scene Muffin Tin Challenge.  Key components here are fill a muffin tin with beady goodness geared towards specific projects.  Work on those projects for a week, then show them off.

My problem was that I came into the challenge on Friday, following a non-connected vacation.  It's due today, Monday.  That's 12 projects in 3 days.  Yeah.  Right.  So I compromised.  Grabbed my 8-cup muffin tin instead.  Figured that'd work, given my lack of time and inspiration.  I'll admit that I was oh, so happy when it was announced that we had to do six projects out of the 12.

So, on Saturday morning I grabbed a muffin tin, much to my Exasperated Husband's dismay ("you're going to do what?  I cook with that thing..."  Remember, he's a chef - I don't cook.)  And start piling in beads and other goodies.   Here's what I came away with....

And obsession added to inspiration added to motivation added to a huge heaping dose of "Avoiding Real Life Problems" kicks me in gear.  I'm wire wrapping like a crazy woman, banging on metal with a maniacal gleam, torching like crazy, stringing and crimping like the house is on fire.  In the next two days (yes, Saturday and Sunday) I get *ten* (count 'em, ten!!) projects out of my 8 cup muffin tin.  Pretty good, dude, wouldn't you say?  I'll def say that the kids appreciated the copious amounts of Bob, Thomas, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle they indulged in.  But please don't tell my husband about that part....  (heh)

Amazingly, that ARLP thing kicked in when I was woken up abruptly by a kitten jumping on my head this morning.  At 4:forgheen30 this morning.  I totally destructo'ed one bracelet, remade it in full, and added a quick pair of earrings to the total, making it now 11 items.  Dude...not bad, eh?

Only thing now was to take pictures and blog about it.  Right?  Yeah.  Today was the first day back to the day job.  So I run home at 4:30, snap pictures like a maniac, kiss the kids and Exasperated Husband goodbye and head out the door for dinner with my parents and siblings.  It's now 11:30 and I've finally edited all the pictures and am blogging about the Challenge.....last minute, just how I like it.  (yeah, right.)

Oh.  Wait.  You probably want to see what I've created for this challenge.  Okay, yeah, that'd help.  So here's the eye candy part of the post.  5 pair of earrings.  3 bracelets.  3 necklaces.  Man, that was a pretty cool muffin mix, wasn't it?  LOL

Earrings feature cool bits like Unicorn Glass buttons, two MissFickleMedia white patina'ed copper beads, enameled filagree beads from Barbara Lewis, texturized copper washers from my Bead Soup partner Miss Molly Alexander, unakite, copper, czech glass, brass, orange coral, and hand-made-by-me earwires.

The necklaces feature components and beads like a polymer clay Barbara Bechtel pendant, a SpiritedEarth pendant, an enameled bead from Sally Russick, copper, brass, New Jade, amethyst, Czech glass, wooden rounds and other things.  Two of the clasps were handmade by me, as were some of the bead caps.

The bracelets feature more of the awesomeness that is from MissFickleMedia, Czech glass, brass, copper, unakite, bronzite, orange coral and handmade clasps and bead caps by me.

So, I guess that's it.  I really enjoyed working on this Challenge, and will likely use the muffin tin idea again in the future!  How about you?  Did you participate?  And did you have fun?  Do you like challenges, or do they kick ya hard and leave you sputtering?

(and really, I do apologize for this post....call it stress - that "Avoiding Real Life Problem" thing is kicking my tush.  LOL)

(phew - 11:39 EST - made it!)

I was playing along but only managed 4 in the time I had. But I will continue this. I think that having the focus is perfect and compartmentalizing all that you need gives you the head start to get busy! Plus if you want to make muffins you have to really get busy so that you can bake something!
Enjoy the day!

Umm.... I did not know you were so dang hilarious! Now, forgive me if I thought your tone was humorous despite the chaos going on around you, but the tone of your writing was delightful! And then to top it off.... you made some amazing jewelry!!! You have beautiful beads and you did them justice again and again. And you also won the prize... I am thrilled for you!!! And one last thing... I finally moved your blog in my reader from "beading" to "friend" so if you wonder why I start commenting a lot now....I am still figuring all this out!
