Living the strong life

In honor of my grandmother, who was 94 when she left us early last week...

  • I pledge to live my life strong.  Because she was the strongest woman I know.
  • I pledge to live my life unafraid.  Because she was nothing if not brave.
  • I pledge to live my life passionately.  Because everything she did, she did with her whole heart.
  • I pledge to live my life true.  Because she did not tolerate falseness.
  • I pledge to live my life with meaning.  Because she gave everything and everyone she touched meaning.
  • I pledge to live my life with love.  Because she honored us with all the love she gave.
  • I pledge to live my life with full awareness of an individual's faults and frailties.  And to love them, regardless.  Because that was her life.
  • I pledge to live my life conscientiously.   Because she was always aware.  Of everything.
  • I pledge to live my life to the fullest of my potential.  Because she wouldn't expect otherwise.

Gram, you were an inspiration to all of us.  Strength personified, we knew we could count on you for anything.  And you proved that, oh, so many times.  Your dignity and spirit were legendary.  May all of your family aspire to live with such spirit!  I could say much more, but I won't.  We will miss you forever.  And love you beyond that.

That was just beautiful, Holly! What an amazing woman she was, and I just love how you are celebrating her life. If we could all have those goals for our lives, what a fulfilling, rich life we would have, and just look at the impact it has for others! I appreciate this so very much!

Miss Holly, this is a stirring tribute to a life well lived. I love your pledges and can think of no better way to honor her memory than to go out and live your own life to the fullest.
    Enjoy the day!

That was beautiful Holly. Sorry for your loss. My Grandmother left us when she was 94 too. It was a few years ago and we are all still in shock, I think when someone lives that long you just think they will live forever.
