rondelle challenge
with Sue's lovely goodies

And welcome to another awesome blog hop!  Back in April, Sue Kennedy put out a call about a blog hop using some of her awesome enameled rondelles.  Oh fun, I thought to myself, and then promptly entered and forgot about it.  Until the email came from Sue that I was chosen as one of the participants!  Yays and happy dances followed, and I anxiously awaited the arrival of the goodies.  And when they did, yays and happy dances ensued once again!  The rondelles I received were in teal, which is really one of my favorite colors to design around.

(image borrowed from Sue - in my excitement, I forgot to take a pic upon arrival!)

I had all these ideas running around through my head, but one idea kept coming to me.  So that's the design I went with in the end.

Those awesome rondelles kept screaming at me to use them in a pair of earrings.  And they wanted brass, not copper.  And who am I to ignore the call?

I had some lovely brass that was already etched, so I pulled out the shears and went to town on some discs.  Dapped the discs, and then oxidized them.  I also decided to echo a bit of the teal color onto the brass, and so grabbed my Gilder's Paste and there you go, awesome brass accents!  And yep, they're large.  Larger than I usually make my discs, but that's what's so awesome about it!

The rest of the earrings were easy to design, using brass daisy spacers and handmade brass earwires.  That's it, and there ya go!  I love these earrings....

Anyway, please go visit the others playing in this awesome blog hop!  It was alot of fun, and Sue, thank you so very much for allowing me to play with your lovelies!

I love the etched brass with the teal beads. And the guilder's paste really ties it all together. Lovely earrings! This has been so much fun to see what other people have made.

Ahh yes, when the beads speak, you must listen. Your earrings are just lovely--the etched brass, the guilders paste, all of it came together to make beautiful earrings!

I can see why you like them--I love them too! The brass dangles are just the sort of thing I love to do as well! I like how you added some teal to them--I haven't started working with color yet, but would like to--and this convinces me all the more!

Your earwires are terrific too. I think the entire piece comes together so very well! Congrats!

These really are awesome! The gilder's paste is a nice touch. I thought the color on the brass was just a reflection of the beads on it. It matches SO well and adds just a hint of magic to these beauties!
