...of what I've been working on.
I've been playing around a bit, trying to work out some different designs and pieces to bring to my upcoming shows, and one of the things I'd decided to try was to work a bit more with metal.
so I went and bought myself some copper bracelet blanks. yes, I could've just cut the metal myself, I've got tons of sheet. but figured this would be easier ;) and yep, sure was!
here is an example of my first experiment....
I decided to start with annealling the piece, and absolutely fell in love with the colors that bloomed from the flames. the reds and oranges were amazing and vibrant.
I then stamped the words "Not Alone" on the cuff.
The saying is taken from one of my favorite songs, "Not Alone" by Darren Criss (my inner Gleek is showing herself here ;)) I think everyone needs that reminder that they aren't alone, and that someone loves them, every once in a while.
I then grabbed my hammers and texturized that puppy quite a bit. shaped it up nicely on the bracelet mandrel, and then hit it quick with some Liver of Sulfer. finished it up with a bit of Renaissance Wax to help preserve the finish, and here's the finished cuff!
one thing about the hammering, it did take away some of the spectacular flame-induced colors away. but I also tried to leave a decent amount of that lovely color alone. you can't really see it in the pictures, but oh, is it there and gorgeous!
|just listed it to my ETSY shop too ;)|
